Service Tips

  • Book a collection

    If you have an on-call service or need an extra collection, please call our automated booking system anytime to book your collection. Call 0800 826 545 and enter the pin number for the bin that needs collecting. If you do not have the pin codes for your bins, click here to request them.

    Alternatively, you can email your order to orders@wastemanagment.co.nz

    Make sure to include your business name or WM Number, address, the bin type that needs servicing, contact phone number and PO number (if required). You can also use our Contact Us form to get your order processed quicker.

    If you have an urgent order, call our contact centre on 0800 10 10 10 and we will do our best to arrange a collection.

  • Suspend your services

    If you are closing for the holidays or need to cancel a scheduled services, you can suspend your services. The earlier we know the better, but please give us at least two working days’ notice. Please click here to fill out the suspension form.

  • Cancel or change a service

    To change or cancel a scheduled service, please click here to fill out the suspension form at least one working day in advance.

  • Building and Construction customers

    If you are a Building and Construction customer, our GOBuild app is just for you.

    With GOBuild you can order bin delivery, removal and exchange across our range of bin sizes. Click here and we’ll get you set up.

  • Tips for All services

    Safe, successful service starts with you and your bins. Check out our top tips to make things go smoothly on your service day.

    All services:

    • Take care of waste and recycling the right way.Put your waste and recycling into the right bins. Always exclude any non-acceptable or hazardous materials
    • Don’t overfill your bins – lids need to be shut flat and be below the top edge of the bin
    • Need to adjust your service or request an extra pickup? Contact us to explore your options.
  • Tips for Commercial Frontload and Wheelie Bin Services

    Our drivers often start early in the morning, meaning your bin could be collected before you start the next day. You can help them out by:

    • If your wheelie bin needs to be placed kerbside, put it out the night before
    • Make the access clear – unlock gates or enclosures and ensure there’s no obstacles including cars blocking the bin
    • If your bin has wheels, please ensure your bin is placed in its designated pickup area and clear of any obstacles or overhead hazards like wires and branches
    • Keep your waste in the bin – if there is waste in front of or around the bin it might prevent a collection. Book an extra collection if you need one
  • Tips for Skip, Smart Skip and Hook Services

    These services could happen any time of the day, so it’s important your site is skip bin ready and that we have a site contact in case there are any issues:

    • Leave the bins where they are placed by the Waste Management driver
    • Keep your waste in the bin – only fill the bin to the top edge, so it can be safely transported. Contact us if you need any extra collection
    • Make the access clear – unlock gates or enclosures and ensure there’s no obstacles including cars blocking the bin
    • Make sure there is enough space to manoeuvre around the bins - do not erect scaffolding too close to the bin
    • Provide a site contact when you book the service
    • When tossing items into your container, please ensure items are evenly distributed and stay below the container’s maximum tonnage.
