We’re making changes to the general waste residential service in Nelson to make it safer and more sustainable.
From the week beginning 4 September 2023, our driver will no longer be entering your property to collect your bin. Instead, please leave it kerbside by 7.00am on your collection day. This will make our collections safer and more efficient for both you and our drivers.
To make your service more sustainable, we will also no longer be providing single-use plastic bin liners. These are unnecessary and we can collect your waste without them.
We do not need a bin liner to collect your general waste. By removing this single-use bin liner we are making your service more sustainable by removing thousands of plastic bin liners from use. If you want a more sustainable alternative, you can place newspaper in the bottom of your bin after each collection.
This makes collections safer for you, our drivers, and other road users. This will reduce vehicle movements and the risk of accidents as our trucks no longer need to enter and exit your property.
No, your collection day and frequency and payments will remain the same. We have provided these additional services free of charge.
Place your bin away from any trees, power poles or parked vehicles. If there is nowhere safe to place your bin, contact us and we’ll find a solution.
Nelson collections will not be affected by Waitangi Day.
No disruptions due to Waitangi Day on Tuesday, February 6. Collections will continue.
